By - 5 April 2023

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a new, 25-year tribal gaming compact with the Redding Rancheria and the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians.

The compacts allow the two tribes to operate up to two casinos each on Indian land for Nevada-style games include including slot machines, electronic games of chance, and card games like blackjack.

The Tribes would be allowed to operate up to a total of 1,200 gaming devices and offer off-track wagering on horse races at a satellite wagering facility.

Redding Rancheria wants to relocate its main casino to Strawberry Fields location west of I-5 and expand its casino operations with freeway access.

In California, there are currently 76 Indian casinos with five mini-casinos owned by 73 of the state’s 109 tribes.
