US – CG Technology fined $1.5m for Las Vegas violation

By - 25 July 2016

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has fined sportsbook provider CG Technology $1.5m and ordered that CEO Lee Amaitis resign following a ‘computer glitch’ that underpaid players more than half-a-million dollars between 2011 and 2015.

CG Technology refuted claim that it had purposefully attempted to gain financially from the system error. It will also have to repay customers and fix the sportsbetting system.

A.G. Burnett, Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said: “The Board will not tolerate improper or incorrect payments to patrons by gaming licensees, and therefore takes this matter extremely seriously. This settlement contains several harsh punishments and requirements for remediation that reflect those concerns.”

The board warned that “any future complaints could result in license revocation.”

CG Technology runs sports betting lounges at the Cosmopolitan, M resort, Hard Rock, Palms, Tropicana and Venetian, all in Las Vegas.
