US – Foxwoods Resort Casino reports July slot revenue

By - 17 August 2020

Foxwoods Resort Casino generated slot revenue of $30.5m for the month of July 2020. This results in a $7.6m direct payment to the State of Connecticut in accordance with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s long-standing slot revenue contribution agreement.

The resort continues to see positive feedback and adherence from guests and team members on its extensive safety measures, including temperature checks, mandatory face masks, plexiglass installations and 24/7 sanitization of the property. After thorough safety reviews with its Chief Medical Officer and other health experts, last week the resort announced it could safely reopen HighFlyer Zipline, Cedar’s Steak & Oysters and Hard Rock Café.

“COVID-19’s impact continues to be felt by most industries and gaming venues, but we are encouraged by guest response and traffic, and we feel our calculated and thoughtful approach in reopening Foxwoods in phases is the right move,” said Jason Guyot, Interim CEO and SVP of Resort Operations. “We have been doubling down on safety – that is the main focus – and we’re pleased that guests see Foxwoods as a secure, welcoming environment where they can stay, shop, game, and dine, all in a resort perfectly sized to allow for social distancing. We’ve created what we believe is one of the safest destinations in the Northeast.”

“As our local economy continues to rebuild, we must aggressively consider other ways to stabilise our great state and reconsider going all in on legalising sports betting and modernizing online gaming in Connecticut,” said Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler. “Since 2018, authorised neighbouring states around the region have collectively generated just under $100M in tax revenue for their respective regions, and we believe $80 million can be generated from sports betting, internet gaming, iKeno and iLottery in Connecticut. Our Tribe has helped enhance the economy of eastern Connecticut over the past 25 years, and we are ready to be part of the next phase of rebuilding right now.”
