US – GLI holds first NIGA Master’s Level Commissioner Certification Training

By - 24 November 2014

Expert staff from Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) have successfully conducted GLI’s first Master’s Level Commissioner Certification Training for the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA).

The training took place November 5-7 at the company’s GLI University Training Center in Las Vegas, and more than 38 regulators from 18 jurisdictions were in attendance.

“GLI’s 25-year history, commitment to the Indian gaming industry and support for NIGA has provided us with a natural partner to enhance our Commissioner and Regulator trainings. Going into 2015, NIGA can now confidently say we have a top-of-the-line training series to offer our member Tribes.

Commissioners and Regulators expressed the need for additional training and NIGA, along with GLI, is proud to now offer additional training opportunities so that they can stay current with gaming regulatory concerns and developments,” said NIGA Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr.

The seminar was a first-of-its-kind training program, combining theory-based classroom and hands-on exercises designed to empower tribal gaming regulators, operators, IT, marketing and tribal leadership. The training was provided a free value-add service for all NIGA members.

The first Master Class Series Certification Training covered:
Online Accounting System Audits
Class II Gaming System and Bingo Audits
Promotional System Audits
Gaming Floor Audits
Network Risk Assessments

The training was conducted in conjunction with NIGA. During last April’s Indian Gaming Tradeshow and Convention, NIGA announced it had entered into an agreement wherein GLI would be NIGA’s exclusive provider for technical and compliance-related training.

“We were very excited to be a part of this historical training event. When NIGA reached out to us in February of this year to develop a hands-on focused curriculum to add to their successful Commissioner Certification Program, we were honored and began working on the program immediately. Our focus was to empower Tribal Gaming Commissions, Operations and Leadership with hands-on training to assist them in better protecting the assets and interests of their gaming operations,” said GLI National Director of Tribal Development Russell Witt. “Training in GLI University is just one more way customers get more from GLI, so much more than just testing.”
