US – GTECH to provide MGM with Sports Betting and OnPremise Mobile Solutions

By - 10 February 2015

GTECH Interactive UK and MGM Resorts International have signed a multi-year agreement to provide enhanced sports betting technology at 12 MGM Resorts properties and GTECH OnPremise mobile Sports Betting and Casino gaming at 10 MGM Resorts properties in Nevada.

The agreement represents GTECH’s first planned Sports Betting and GTECH OnPremise mobile gaming deployment in the US.

GTECH and MGM are expected to begin a phased deployment of the solutions at the properties in Q3 of 2015, pending regulatory approvals. GTECH will modernize MGM’s sports betting offerings to include live in-play betting, and enable customers to place sports betting wagers via mobile anytime, anywhere in the state of Nevada.

In addition, GTECH will provide real-money on-premise mobile casino and slots, playable anywhere within an MGM property through the players’ own smartphones or tablets. Both the gaming and sports betting are combined into a single mobile app and linked to the players’ MGM Resorts M life loyalty club membership. As part of the agreement, GTECH will also extend the mobile services to other on-premise screens that MGM is installing throughout MGM Resorts properties.

Ludovico Calvi, GTECH Head of Betting said: “This Sports Betting solution will allow MGM to capitalize on a new system with a single trading management interface, which could help improve global profitability across all sales channels.”

Matteo Monteverdi, GTECH Senior Vice President, iGaming and Americas Interactive, added: “These solutions will offer live mobile betting guests of MGM Resorts in Nevada for the first time. They will also enable MGM Resorts to connect with more players in a new and relevant way, and will enable MGM to offer more gaming without requiring more space on the gaming floor.”

“MGM Resorts selected GTECH to assist with the modernization of its sports betting offering based on GTECH’s end-to-end experience, expertise, and technological innovation,” said Thomas Mikulich, Senior Vice President of Business Development, MGM Resorts International. “The GTECH OnPremise solution will ensure that our players enjoy convenient and exciting new ways to wager seamlessly across multiple gaming channels, by sports betting via mobile from anywhere within Nevada, and through mobile table games and slots on premise at 10 MGM properties, whether they’re at a sports book, slot floor, restaurant, or poolside.”

MGM Resorts include some of Nevada’s largest legal sports books, which handle the largest percentage of legal sports betting activity in the Nevada market.

MGM Resorts has been a longtime GTECH customer, with GTECH slots and games currently available at 13 MGM properties.
