US – GTECH wins Missouri Lottery contract

By - 1 December 2014

GTECH has been awarded a seven-year integrated services contract to provide a new central gaming system, a variety of lottery/self-service machines, multimedia displays, an upgraded telecommunications network, and related ongoing services to the Missouri Lottery.

GTECH has been the major lottery technology and services provider to the Missouri Lottery since 1991. The new contract, which is scheduled to run for seven years beginning in the second half of 2015, is the result of a competitive procurement, and includes one three-year extension option, exercisable at the Lottery’s discretion. GTECH expects to receive revenues of approximately $112 million over the seven-year term.

“Over the past 23 years, GTECH’s flexible technology solutions and marketing insights have supported the Missouri Lottery’s innovative approaches and multi-faceted portfolio,” said GTECH Americas President and CEO Jaymin Patel. “Through this agreement, our robust, forward-thinking solutions will help to ensure that the Lottery continues to grow and raise funds for good causes.”

“The Missouri Lottery is continuously seeking new ways to increase profits for public education through strategic innovation,” said Missouri Lottery Executive Director May Scheve Reardon. “This agreement with GTECH will continue to drive the Lottery’s performance to greater levels as technology and player demographics evolve.”

Under the terms of the new contract, GTECH will provide the Missouri Lottery with a full set of integrated services, including a new central gaming system and replacement of Lottery Scratcher Validation and back-office systems, based on GTECH’s Enterprise Series platform. It will also replace draw-based lottery terminals with approximately 3,500 full-service Altura GT1200 terminals and 1,500 Altura GT1200 Compact terminals, both featuring the fastest play slip reader and fastest thermal printer in the industry.

In addition, the Company will provide self-service machines, as well as its Enterprise Series
MultiMedia (ESMM) monitors, including Smart Shows, for Lottery and Keno. ESMM allows the Lottery to manage, distribute, and display vibrant multimedia content, such as games, Lottery advertising, promotions, jackpot updates, and other messages through a single point of control, while Smart Shows technology gives operators the power to load and display automated yet dynamic and flexible marketing content precisely displayed by audience type, geographic location, and/or terminal type and display. The Company will also upgrade the existing VSAT communications network.

GTECH will continue to provide ongoing services to the Lottery, including field service management, operations data center services, communications, software and QA testing, marketing and events specialisation, and retailer training. Since Missouri Lottery sales began in 1986, the Lottery has provided the state and public education with nearly $5 billion, including currently funding 65 percent of the A+ Scholarship program.
