US – Harrah’s Northern California extends team member pay by two weeks

By - 20 April 2020

Harrah’s Northern California Tribal and property leadership have once again extended team member pay during the temporary suspension in casino operations. Team members impacted by the closure of the property as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic will now receive their regular hourly wages or salaries through 30 April 2020. This is an additional two-week extension in team member pay from the previously announced 15 April date. No Harrah’s Northern California team member has gone without pay since the temporary suspension of operations on Wednesday, 18 March. In addition, the Casino continues to pay 100 percent of team members’ insurance premiums, including medical, dental, vision and supplemental benefits, throughout the duration of the property’s closure.

“We understand how challenging this uncertain time is for our team members and their families, which is why we are making every effort possible to keep them whole while we ride out this storm together,” said Rhonda Pope-Flores, Buena Vista Rancheria Chairwoman. “By offering an additional extension in pay, it is our hope to alleviate our team members’ financial concerns so they can direct their focus on staying safe and caring for their families. We will continue to assess this rapidly evolving situation and assist our team members where we can.”

Harrah’s Northern California and the Buena Vista Tribe have a caring culture and long-standing commitment to team members. To ensure no team member experiences a lapse in medical benefit coverage, beginning April 1, 2020 Harrah’s Northern California began paying 100 percent of both employer and employee health insurance premiums. The Casino temporarily suspended operations on Wednesday, March 18 for the well-being of guests and team members out of concern for public health due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Harrah’s Northern California.

Tribal and property leadership are continually monitoring the situation and are working to minimise the impact of the crisis on team members. Additionally, leadership is working collaboratively with local and state agencies to establish a re-opening date. Harrah’s Northern California looks forward to welcoming guests and team members back to the Casino as soon as is advisable.
