By - 14 August 2018

Horseshoe Casino & Hotel Tunica opened its sports betting lounge on August 14 with the grand opening of The Book at Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi.

Celebrities and government officials joined the celebration with a former professional football running back and current professional wrestler, DeAngelo Williams and founding member of N’SYNC Chris Kirkpatrick along with Webster Franklin, President of the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau placing the first sports bets at Horseshoe Tunica.

“Sports betting is a new product and it’s something that we’re excited about both from the direct benefits of booking bets at Horseshoe, but also from the indirect benefits of being an added gaming amenity that can attract new customer segments and bring people back to Tunica,” said R. Scott Barber, Regional President, Caesars Mid-South.

Government officials and dignitaries that were on hand for the celebration included Larry Gregory, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association; Allen Godfrey, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission; Chuck Cariker, Mayor of Tunica; and Webster Franklin, President & CEO of Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau; and Mississippi State House of Representative Richard Bennett. Bennett was the former chairman of the House Gaming Committee when state legislation was passed to repeal the prohibition of sports betting in Mississippi.

“We’re excited about the new season and we are hoping to put a shot in the arm here in Tunica,” said Mississippi State House of Representative Richard Bennett.
