US – IGT awarded silver Stevie Award for Aurora lottery product

By - 28 June 2018

IGT’s Aurora product development team was named the winner of a silver Stevie Award in the Excellence in Application Modernization category during the 16th Annual American Business Awards held in New York on June 11.

The American Business Awards are the USA’s premier business awards program. All organisations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. More than 3,700 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.

Under the leadership of Robert Beauparlant, IGT’s Vice President of Product Development, Lottery and Core Platforms, the team at IGT created an innovative endto-end lottery solution, Aurora, which is widely recognized as a successful, revolutionized application in the lottery industry. IGT’s longstanding technology partner, HCL, nominated Aurora for several reasons, citing that it is a versatile modern architecture and an advanced end-to-end lottery solution with user interfaces that work on any browser or device; is cost effective; and delivers a faster speed-to-market, among many other benefits.

Beauparlant has worked in the government-sponsored lottery and gaming industry for over 30 years and currently leads a team of more than 200 engineers, spanning all engineering disciplines, in IGT’s Lottery & Core Platforms Division.

“This award further validates IGT’s leadership in the global lottery and gaming market where government-sponsored gaming is at the intersection of gaming, politics, and social responsibility,” said Beauparlant. “It also provides affirmation of our Aurora product strategy in helping to modernize the clients we serve. I thank HCL for their nomination and for their longstanding relationship as a valued strategic partner with IGT; Matthew Whalen, CTO Lottery and Core Platforms, for his vision and support; and the whole Aurora team for their hard work and dedication and without whom this recognition would not be possible.”

More than 200 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

“The nominations submitted for the 2018 American Business Awards were outstanding. The competition was intense, and those recognised as Stevie Award winners should be immensely proud of this accomplishment,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards.
