US – Intralot launches 44th US lottery in Wyoming

By - 1 September 2014

The North American subsidiary of Intralot Group has launched its newest US lottery with the Wyoming Lottery (WyoLotto) selling its first tickets on August 24.

The lottery chose her randomly from more than 27,000 entrants in a giveaway promoting the launch of the lottery. In addition to purchasing the first lottery ticket sold in Wyoming, she also won a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and free Mega Millions tickets for a year.

Jon Clontz, CEO of WyoLotto stated: “The Launch of the Wyoming Lottery has been a rewarding and exciting experience. To set foot on the ground last October and be opening a lottery 10 months later is a remarkable achievement! An even more remarkable outcome is that we launched the lottery without any major systems, technology or point of sale problems. This was a very smooth launch executed with persistent attention to detail and precision. The combined high quality experience of our gaming vendor Intralot and lottery staff proved to be a formula for success. My staff and the Intralot team logged countless hours to include weekends ensuring benchmarks, deadlines and milestone objectives were met. Intralot and my team maintained a constant team oriented attitude and a positive and motivating drive that led to a successful launch with no major concerns”.

Mr. Clontz added: “Outcomes are what matter and I am simply amazed at the outcome we just experienced! To go-live with a complex project like this in 10.5 short months is a significant achievement! To do this with such precision and quality is an even greater achievement. I wish to thank my team, our Board of Directors and our talented and experienced gaming vendor Intralot, and all of our partners and stakeholders who helped make the successful launch of the Wyoming Lottery possible.”

The Lottery released a Request for Proposal for Lottery Operations and Services back on December 3, 2013. The largest three vendors in the industry submitted proposals and after a thorough review of each proposal, the Wyoming Lottery awarded the contract to Intralot, which scored the highest points. Intralot signed a five-year contract with the Lottery with three, five-year extension options.

Under the terms of the contract Intralot provides on-going services including the supply, installation, maintenance and support of the new lottery Central System and software platforms, terminal network and communications. In addition, Intralot provides a field sales staff that recruits and trains retailers and also works with them to enhance their sales.

Intralot President and CEO, Tom Little, said: “We have been working closely with the Wyoming Lottery towards a secure and successful launch since our award in April. We are extremely excited because this is our 14th contract award in the US market and our second start-up of new lottery operations; the previous being the successful start-up of the Arkansas Lottery in 2012. The excitement surrounding this start-up was apparent as the lottery reported $1,000 in sales per minute for the first hour and achieved an impressive $401,638 in sales prior to the first draw on Tuesday. In fact, that amount was just shy of the projected sales for the entire first week. It has been a pleasure working with the WyoLotto team and we are looking forward to a long successful partnership together.”
