US – Maryland casinos dip slightly to $157m in GGR in February

Whilst casino revenues in some US state’s continue to generate record month after record month, Maryland’s six casinos seem to have found their post-pandemic level.

They combined to generate $157,055,925 in revenue from slot machines and table games during February 2023. The total represents a decrease of $5,909,379 (down 3.6 per cent) compared to February 2022.

Casino gaming contributions to the state in February 2023 totaled $66,923,277, a decrease of $1,313,782 (down 1.9 per cent) compared to February 2022.

Contributions to the Education Trust Fund (ETF) in February 2023 were $48,655,992, a decrease of $986,121 (down two per cent) compared to February 2022. Casino gaming revenues also support the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

Maryland’s six privately owned casinos offer both slot machines and table games: MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County; Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County; Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City; Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County; Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.

The gaming revenue totals for February 2023 are as follows:

MGM National Harbor with 2,112 slot machines and 209 table games generated $65,597,173 in February 2023, a decrease of $239,930 (down 0.4 per cent) from February 2022.

Live! Casino & Hotel with 3,839 slot machines and 179 table games generated $55,697,859 in February 2023, a decrease of $3,740,200 ( down 6.3%) from February 2022.

Horseshoe Baltimore with 1,448 slot machines and 130 table games generated $16,290,547 in February 2023, a decrease of $1,427,596 (down 8.1 per cent) from February 2022.

Hollywood Casino – Perryville with 700 slot machines and 19 table games produced $7,302,105 in February 2023, a decrease of $564,527 (down 7.2 per cent) from February 2022.

Ocean Downs Casino and Racetrack with 848 slot machines and 19 table games generated $6,836,983 in February 2023, an increase of $244,570 (3.7 per cent) from February 2022.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort with 615 slot machines, 16 table games generated $5,331,258 in February 2023, a decrease of $181,697 (down 3.3 per cent) from February 2022.
