US – Maryland Live! back on top in February

Having been knocked off top spot for Maryland’s top casino earners in January by the debut of MGM National harbour, Maryland Live! is back in pole position having delivered the best results in the state in February.

Maryland’s six casinos generated revenue of US$128.7m, marking a year-on-year increase of 38 per cent.
However without the GGR generated by MGM National Harbour, the month would have shown a decline of 11.1 per cent or $10.3m.

Maryland Live! was responsible for $46.3m in GGR in February compared to the $45.8m brought in by MGM National Harbour. Maryland Live!’s total was better than what it earned in January by $2.3m but worse than what it earned in February last year by $7.7m. The slots at MarylandLive! earned $264.21 with banked tables generating $3,535.57and non-banked table $1,076.29.

Robert Norton, president of Maryland Live, said: “We’re here to compete. We have built a very loyal customer base that appreciates our family approach to service.”

Maryland Live is opening a $200m hotel at the casino this year.

At MGM National Harbor the split was even with table games generating $22.1m and slots $23.7m.
Elsewhere, the next top earning casino was the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore which brought home $22m, down 11.9 per cent on last year. Hollywood Casino Perryville saw GGR of $6.2m, down 4.6 per cent year-on-year, Rocky Gap reported $4.3m, an increase of 13.9 per cent from February 2016. Casino at Ocean Downs reported just over $4m from its slot only casino, marking increase of 3.5 per cent.
