US – New York sportsbetting surges to new record in March

New York sports betting surged to its best ever month in March, with the New York State Gaming Commission confirming a record high of $163.6m betting revenue, beating the previous record of $149.4m set in January.

New York trails Ohio as the state with the best ever monthly betting revenue, with Ohio pulling in $209m in revenue during its opening month in January. Mobile betting also had a record-breaking month, setting a national record for monthly state tax revenue with $162.8m in mobile revenue. In comparison, the state’s four retail sportsbooks generated $755,000 in revenue with a $6.9m handle. Del Lago Resort was the top-eraning land-based sportsbook in March with $377,539 in betting revenue.

Sportsbetting generated tax reciepts of $83.1m in tax receipts in March.

Out of the nine mobile operators, FanDuel retained top spot with 41.4 per cent share of the market, a best ever handle of $740.1m and revenue of $79.6m. FanDuel accounted for 48.9 per cent of New York’s betting revenue in March. DraftKings was second, also breaking its personel best of $52m with an 8.8 per cent hold on $589.8m in accepted bets. Caesars Sportsbook came third with $15.2m and BetMGM came fourth with a new monthly revenue record of $9.6m and with a $121.2m handle.

Personal bests were also set by BetRivers and Bally Bet with handles of $49.9m and $3m in accepted bets and $3.6m and $208,000 in revenue.
