US – Pennsylvania generates record-breaking revenue in March
By Phil - 16 April 2019Revenue from Pennsylvania’s slots and tables have reached an all-time monthly high during March 2019 of $309,125,131.
The amount was also a 2.86 per cent increase over March 2018, the only other month since casinos opened in late 2006 where overall revenue was above $300m ($300,516,011).
March’s numbers were driven by the highest single month for table games revenue of $82,527,450 coupled with the third highest monthly slot machine revenue of $226,597,681. The previous high month for table games revenue occurred in April 2017 when $79,596,706 was generated.
Additionally, this March’s numbers for table games was a 4.25 per cent increase compared to March of last year when revenue was $79,165,791.
The report also provides tax revenue from table games play during March which totalled $13,289,564 with an average of 1,279 tables in daily operation statewide.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also confirmed two more casinos in the state want to offer sports betting with Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County and Mohegan Sun Pocono in Luzerne County applying for licenses.
A seventh casino, Presque Isle Downs Casino in Erie, has been granted license but so far hasn’t opened a sports book.
Table games revenue at the soon to be Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, which has been bought by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians who will re brand it to Wind Creek Casino Resort, was up 22.8 per cent to $23.2m. Slots at the casino were up 8.9 per cent to $50.9m.
Parx Casino saw a two per cent increase on its tables to $17.5m whilst its slots were up four per cent to $56.7m
Table GGR fell by 14.8 per cent at SugarHouse Casino, coming in at $10.8m with slot revenue also dropping by four per cent to $28.7m.
Sports betting is available open at six of Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos and two off-track betting parlors, including SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino in Chester, Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course near Hershey and suburban Philadelphia’s Parx Casino and Valley Forge Casino.
