US – Pinnacle drops New York casino bid

Regional casino operator Pinnacle Entertainment has withdrawn from consideration for one of four gaming licenses in New York, according to state gaming officials. Las Vegas-based Pinnacle had been tied to a potential casino project near Albany. The New York Gaming Facility Location Board said Pinnacle asked for a refund of its US$1m license application deposit.

New York is planning four Upstate casinos, with Pinnacle just one several gaming companies with ties to Las Vegas among nearly two dozen applications. Caesars Entertainment Corp., Malaysia-based Genting Berhad, and Penn National Gaming — in partnership with The Cordish Company have also submitted bids.
