US – Plaza Hotel Casino in Las Vegas unveils new sportsbook

By - 12 November 2019

The historic William Hill Race & Sports Book at the Plaza Hotel and Casino has been completely remodelled and updated with a ceremony held to mark the occasion.

William Hill US CEO Joe Asher, Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO Jonathan Jossel, and former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman ‘turned on’ Downtown Las Vegas’ largest seamless HD video wall. The video wall, which is the most dramatic change to the Race & Sports Book, measures 5 feet tall by 16.5 feet wide and offers an incredible viewing area of more than 80 square feet.

In addition to the turning on ceremony, Goodman placed the ceremonial first bet in the new book was a $100 charity 3-team parlay consisting of this week’s the Saints (-13.5), Seattle (+6) and Kansas City (-6.5). The Las Vegas icon placed the first sports bet in the Plaza’s Race & Sports Book when it was previously refurbished in 2013, which marked the beginning of William Hill and the Plaza Hotel & Casino’s long-running partnership.

The Race & Sports Book will offer guests and bettors access to William Hill’s mobile app, kiosks, and InPlay wagering menu alongside the casino’s best-in-class restaurants and entertainment options.

“Since its opening in 1975, the Race & Sports Book at the Plaza has become a historic landmark as the longest continuously operating sports book in Las Vegas,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill U.S. “When William Hill took over operations in 2012, we wanted to provide the best race and sports experience to bettors and have worked alongside our partners at the Plaza to ensure that holds true today. These improvements and updates cement the Plaza as one of the best places to watch a game Downtown.”

“The Plaza continues to enhance its casino offerings, and we are excited to offer such a dramatically new way to watch and bet on sports in downtown Las Vegas,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “The immense HD video wall is obviously the premier element of the new sports book, but guests also will enjoy the updated look and feel of the space, where they can relax and have fun.”

The updated Race & Sports Book is located near the South Tower on the Plaza’s 80,000-sq. ft. casino floor, which offers players’ favorite slot machines, including penny slots, high-limit machines, classic favorites, and the latest modern 3D slots, as well as multiple table games and downtown Las Vegas’ only single 0 roulette table, all with the most lucrative odds in town including 100 percent paybacks.
