US – Resorts World launches Konami’s ‘pause and reserve’ LuckLock feature

By - 15 August 2021

Konami Gaming has launched LuckLock, a new feature on its SYNKROS player-tracking software system, that allows players to pause and reserve a slot machine for a brief period, allowing them to leave their playing position and return back to it without anyone being able to take their place.

Unveiled at Resorts World Las Vegas on each of the casino’s 1,400 slots, the feature requires the player to be a member of the Resorts World loyalty programme and allows them to lock the machine for up to 30 minutes with the screen showing a ‘locked’ message.

Entry-level rewards club members can pause and reserve a machine for up to five minutes although players at higher tier levels can pause a machine for up 30 minutes. After the allotted time, the slot automatically unlocks, allowing anyone to play again.

Speaking to the Las Vegas Sun, Tom Soukup, a senior vice president with Konami, said: “It can get frustrating to wave down an attendant if a user wants to step away,” said who also likes to play video poker. “Resorts World is making it as seamless as possible. What Resorts World did was allow all rewards club members to lock games. It really is a nice convenience feature, and it encourages people to be part of a loyalty program. Players talk to each other, and if people see that someone else is able to lock a machine, they’re going to be curious about how they could do that.”
