US – Rush Street raises non-tipped minimum wage in Philly and Pittsburgh

By - 6 June 2021

Rush Street Gaming’s two Pennsylvania operations, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, are adopting a $15 per hour minimum wage for non-tipped employees property-wide.

Notably, tipped employees at both Rivers Casinos—those who earn an hourly rate plus gratuities—already take home above $15 per hour. For example, full-time dealers at Rivers Casino average a first-year income of $45,000 and $50,000.

“We believe that paying a living wage is more than a recruitment strategy—it’s the right thing to do,” said Greg Carlin, CEO of Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming. “Our Team Members are committed to our success each and every day. This is just another way we return that commitment.”

A competitive benefits package is yet another way. Rivers Casino offers a robust package of full- and part-time coverages, including healthcare, life and disability, immediate 401(k) vesting, tuition reimbursement and more. With company-paid benefits, the value of the $15 hourly wage increases to approximately $25 per hour.

“We’re proud to be an employer of choice in casino gaming,” said Bud Green, assistant general manager of Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “We offer job candidates family-sustaining wages, great benefits, and a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture.” Green has been with Rush Street for over a decade.

As COVID-19 restrictions lift, more and more people are returning to casinos for much-needed fun and games—slots and tables, sports betting, fine and casual dining, live music, and more. At Rivers Casinos everywhere, momentum is building, business levels are improving, and job opportunities are increasing.

“There’s never been a better time to join the gaming industry,” said Justin Moore, general manager of Rivers Casino Philadelphia. Moore started his gaming career more than 20 years ago as a beverage server at a casino in Las Vegas. “It’s more than a job—it’s a career that can take you anywhere you want to go.”

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh employs approximately 1,300 Team Members, with approximately 400 in non-tipped hourly positions. Rivers Casino Philadelphia employs approximately 1,200 Team Members, with approximately 200 in non-tipped hourly positions.

Rush Street Gaming plans to implement the $15 non-tipped minimum wage at all Rivers Casinos, unless otherwise precluded by existing labor agreements.
