US – Sahara Las Vegas unveils transformation plans

By - 10 March 2020

Sahara Las Vegas revealed plans for its continued $150m resort transformation including significant upgrades to the property exterior, all-new restaurants and more.

In 2020, Sahara Las Vegas will change the look of Las Vegas Boulevard unveiling a fresh new Strip-facing façade including a fully renovated porte cochère and a new digital signage package. A distinctive water feature will serve as the centerpiece of the resort’s main entrance with lush foliage and a warm, earthy color palette welcoming guests as they enter the property. The water feature will include dynamic dancing fountains, a negative edge waterfall and integrated LED technology beneath a 24-foot color-changing chandelier. Enhancements to the interior entrance include beautiful stone tile with brass insets along with glass mosaic flowers, a detailed 20-foot chandelier with hand-blown glass and 10-foot brass entry doors allowing for beautiful rays of natural light to shine across the main casino floor.

Resort changes also include the addition of three new dining concepts to the resort’s award-winning culinary program. Opening this fall, those concepts include the previously announced popular Philadelphia crab house and sports bar, Chickie’s and Pete’s, a Chinese restaurant concept helmed by renowned Chef Guoming “Sam” Xin, and a soon-to-be revealed Italian concept.

Sahara Las Vegas recently opened a new grab-and-go eatery, Prendi. Located in the resort’s recently renovated hotel lobby, Prendi offers a fresh menu with items made in house including cold-pressed juices, focaccia pizzas, pastries, salads and sandwiches. The lobby is also now home to The Tangier, featuring a world-class selection of more than 150 brown spirits from six continents including bourbon, scotch and cognac. Taking guests back in time, the unique menu at The Tangier features a variety of classic cocktails as well as newly curated speciality cocktails.

In addition to the new hotel lobby amenities, Sahara Las Vegas also dealt the first games in its all-new Poker Room in recent weeks. Boasting seven tables, a 16-foot by nine-foot LED video wall and five additional screens throughout the room along with round-the-clock food options provided by Northside Café, the room offers an extensive game chart including No Limit Texas Holdem, Limit Holdem, Pot Limit Omaha, 7-card Stud and various mix games along with daily tournaments. The Poker Room serves as a complement to the additional enhancements and expansion of the main casino floor last year which now features more than 60,000 square feet of newly updated casino space including 600 of the latest slot and video poker machines and 50 classic table games.

Construction also continues on the previously announced transformation of the main resort pool. From VIP cabanas to a private pool overlooking the main pool, nothing will be left untouched as the entire pool and its amenities receive a complete overhaul to create a new and compelling pool experience.

“We are pleased with our progress thus far and excited to announce new additions to our transformation timeline,” said Paul Hobson, senior vice president and general manager of Sahara Las Vegas. “Great care has been taken to incorporate guest feedback into our plans, creating a truly unique, boutique experience right along the Las Vegas Strip. As each new amenity comes online, we continually look to our guests to ensure we deliver upon our promise to create the best guest experience in Las Vegas.”

Sahara Las Vegas features 1,615 guest rooms, more than 85,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and a collection of entertainment venues, lounges, two rooftop pools, the luxurious Amina Spa and acclaimed restaurants, including the award-winning Bazaar Meat by José Andrés.
