US – Station looking to lead the way in Las Vegas’ sportsbooks

By - 12 July 2016

Las Vegas locals operator Station Casinos is improving its sportsbook offering both on and offline with two deals hoping to keep it ahead of the field.

The operator has partnered with Stadium Technology Group, a leading provider of race and sports book management software and Miomni Gaming, to launch a next evolution of its sports book betting mobile app and enhanced system solution software for the sports books.

The arrival of both the sports book software and STN Sport for iOS and Android users debuts today offering bettors inside the sports books and on the STN Sport mobile app, an enhanced, faster and more enjoyable wagering experience.

Stadium Technology Group has brought its Primeline Enterprise Race and Sports Management Software to all Station Casinos’ Race and Sports Books as well as inside two sports books managed by Station Casinos: the El Cortez Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Baldini’s Casino in Sparks, Nev. Primeline Enterprise offers rich, full-service management race and sports software solutions through its open architecture that integrates with third party applications and is used by the majority of race and sports book operators in Nevada.

Miomni Gaming developed the new mobile app for iOS and Android to deliver all live gaming data, provide a secure betting experience to users as well as offer its geo-location technology capabilities to ensure all wagers are made in the state of Nevada.

“We are committed to the continued evolution of our sports business, including both our over the counter betting experience and our mobile app technology” said Art Manteris, Vice President of Race and Sports Book Operations for Station Casinos. “This new partnership allows us to offer our guests more betting options with greater ease.”

Station Casinos’ guests will have an enhanced mobile app and tablet experience for browsing and wagering on all sporting events that delivers real time information and updates quicker and with greater reliability, richer and more engaging content and a longer battery life. The STN Sports mobile app launch today at all Station Casinos properties.

“Stadium Technology is honoured that Station Casinos selected our software to manage their race and sports operations,” Guy Ossello, CEO of Stadium Technology Group. “This contract solidifies our vision of providing innovative and secure race and sports management systems to meet the needs of today’s operators and their customers, while responding to tomorrow’s technological, regulatory and market demands.”

“We are thrilled to be part of this exciting launch,” said Miomni CEO Mike Venner. “Station Casinos is an incredible brand and they have been a great partner throughout this project. We are looking forward to collaborating on the STN Sports product in the months and years ahead.”

The new sports management software and mobile app is part of Station Casinos’ reinvestment in its sports book operations as six sports books have undergone or will soon be embarking on significant renovations and enhancements. Three sports books now offer the best video screen technology available in the world today.

Station Casinos wants to lead the city’s Race & Sports Books transition from projection technology to fine pitch LED display solutions, first at its Red Rock Resort, and now at its Green Valley Ranch Resort. For both projects, Station turned to NanoLumens for cutting-edge LED visualization solutions to make its Las Vegas Race & Sports Books stand out from the competition.

“Las Vegas is the Race & Sports Book capital of the world, and casinos need to find new ways to set themselves apart from the competition,” NanoLumens Area Director West Dave Merlino explained. “Replacing antiquated, inferior-performing projection based solutions with fine pitch LED displays helps casinos attract more gamers looking for a visual experience they can’t find anywhere else. Station Casinos is at the forefront of this transition. In fact, they’re the first Las Vegas property owner to have fine pixel pitch LED displays in multiple Race & Sports Book locations.”

NanoLumens previously worked with Station Casinos at the Red Rock Race & Sports Book, Merlino explained. Similar to Red Rock, NanoLumens replaced Green Valley Ranch’s previous projection technology, creating a brighter, more inviting atmosphere with five 20.5’x11′ NanoSlim Engage 2.5mm displays.

NanoLumens worked with National Technology Associates (NTA) to complete both installations.

“Station Casinos had to make the choice whether to replace the projectors or upgrade the technology altogether at the Green Valley Ranch Book,” H Waldman, Chief Operating Officer at NTA, stated. “After seeing the increase in business at Red Rock, the company decided that the LED solution was still the best option for Green Valley. Installing the LED technology was the next step in the evolution of their books, and continuing on with the NanoSlim Engage was a no brainer.”
According to Bert Cirincione, Director of the Race & Sports Book at Green Valley Ranch Resort: “The new displays really make our guests feel as if they’re right in the middle of the action. The NanoLumens displays have been a great investment for our property.”

Replacing the projectors will save Green Valley Ranch time and money on both maintenance and equipment. According to Waldman, the cost of LED technology is coming down and the lifespan of the technology is long. “With projection, there is the initial cost of the projector, then the expense of the lamps, cleaning, and maintenance fees,” he said, “and you should replace projectors roughly every five years.”

Mr. Merlino agreed: “Projectors are problematic. First, they don’t deliver the brightness or clarity that a NanoLumens LED display delivers. Next, projection bulbs inevitably fail, and replacing the bulb takes time. If a projector’s bulb goes out during a large event like the Super Bowl, you’re out of luck! NanoLumens displays are guaranteed to perform for up to six years, right down to a single pixel.”

Although the five new NanoSlim Engage displays are only running at 30 percent of their potential brightness, they are recognizably brighter than the dated projectors. Running the displays at this level can greatly extend the lifespan of the technology without hindering the Book’s atmosphere. “The projectors were dim and hard to see, so the entire Race & Sports Book was extremely dark,” Mr. Merlino added. “With NanoLumens LED technology, it’s a more engaging environment. Since the installation of the new displays, Green Valley Ranch has seen more activity in the Book. People want to come and watch the game at the venue because of the quality of the displays.”

Additional renovations will take place throughout the summer at Boulder Station, Sunset Station, Santa Fe Station and Palace Station.
