US – The Brook gives away $3.7m to local charities
By Phil - 1 August 2023
The Brook, America’s largest charity casino located minutes from the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border, announced that it donated $3.7m to New Hampshire charities in the first half of 2023. Since 2019, the casino has now distributed nearly $12m to local organizations in need.
“New Hampshire’s charity casino model is the reason why we decided to transform The Brook into the area’s premier entertainment destination,” said The Brook’s CEO Andre Carrier. “It’s gratifying for every single one of us to see the tangible difference these funds have made to hundreds of essential organizations that are doing important work with limited resources every day.”
Through a rotating selection process, The Brook allocates 35% of all games-of-chance revenue to charities such as Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire, and Annie’s Angels during seven-to-10-day cycles.
With the continued improvements to the facility, such as the new Seasons Showroom and Lucky’s Restaurant, The Brook anticipates surpassing $7m in donations for 2023.
This year, The Brook’s contributions enabled Rockingham Nutrition & Meals On Wheels to provide 15,000 meals to homebound seniors in need.
“There has been a steady increase in demand for meals over the last few years and the limited amount of funding we receive from the government has not kept up with that growth,” said Helen Kostrzynski, Operations Director, Rockingham Nutrition & Meals On Wheels. “The funds we have received from The Brook have been a tremendous help to so many folks in our community and are the reason we have been able to continue delivering meals without cutting back or putting people on a waiting list.”
The Brook has donated $92,000 to Make-A-Wish in 2023, which will translate into granting seven life-changing wishes, such as trips to Disney World or Hawaii, in the coming months to local children with critical illnesses.
Since 2019, Make-A-Wish has now received a total of more than $200,000 from The Brook.
“We are so grateful for The Brook’s continued support as prices continue to rise, increasing the cost of each wish we grant,” said Julie Baron, CEO of Make-A-Wish New Hampshire. “Their leadership has enabled us to keep up with our pace of granting a wish every four days in New Hampshire.”
To further lean into their support of local service organizations, The Brook recently announced the arrival of Clover, a three-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog who is being trained as a service canine so she can someday be prepared to bring love and support to the men, women and children The Brook supports in its community service initiatives.
Since 2019, The Brook has invested millions of dollars in enhancements at the sprawling 75-acre property and has introduced a range of new amenities. Situated just 40 miles from Boston and easily accessible for residents of Massachusetts and Maine.
Last year, The Brook expanded its gaming area, incorporating nearly 500 of the most popular gaming machines like Buffalo Gold, Ultimate Fire Link, and China Shores and most recently added video poker.
In addition to these amenities, The Brook boasts the largest sportsbook in New England, a massive outdoor deck area with a video wall, a grand ballroom, versatile meeting spaces, the state’s only Stadium Gaming area with live dealers and digital screens, simulcast racing seven days a week, and a 20-table poker room hosting daily cash games and giveaways.
