US – Virginia Lottery grants Hard Rock Bristol pre-certification

By - 16 July 2020

The Virginia Lottery Board has given the green light for the proposed casino at Bristol Mall on Gate City Highway in Bristol, Virginia with pre-certification for Hard Rock International and its local partners; The United Company and Par Ventures, allowing the proposal to be put to a public referendum November 3.

The team behind the Bristol casino, which will be close to the Virginia-Tennessee border, said: “We appreciate the work of the Virginia Lottery in reviewing and approving our pre-certification application. Now we look forward to the upcoming referendum, when Bristol, Virginia voters will have an historic opportunity to vote yes for the thousands of new, good-paying jobs and millions of dollars in additional tax revenue that the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol will bring to the city.”

“This project will provide Bristol with critically needed new funding for our schools, teachers and first responders, all while growing the economy both here in the city and all across the region. We are excited about today’s great news, and we can’t wait to communicate directly with voters in the months ahead about the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol and all it will do to make our city an even better place to call home,” they added.

The casino will create 2,000 jobs and generate between $15m and $20m annually for the city in tax revenues. As well as a gaming floor, the property would include a hotel, a music venue, a meeting and convention centre, dining outlets, and retail space.

Hard Rock has extensive experience making projects an integral part of the local community. Hard Rock’s reputation will make the property a major draw for visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. With the resort as a gateway to the region, the partners will use their resources to introduce visitors to the many other wonderful tourism, cultural and recreational opportunities available in the Tri-Cities and across Southwest Virginia.
