China – Genting reviews Macau potential
Genting Hong Kong Group is eyeing the possibility of developing Resorts World Macau on reclaimed land close to the Casino Lisboa, through its subsidiary Treasure Island Entertainment Complex.
Having been granted the land in 2008, it is keen to open a boutique hotel on the site at Nam Van Lake. Yany Kwan, Chairman of Treasure Island Entertainment Complex, confirmed that a construction plan was presented to the Macau government in August 2013. It did not however include any casino facilities.
The group is not ruling out the possibility of casino, which it could possibly operate through a ‘service agreement’ with one of the six current concessionaires.
Mr. Kwan revealed that the proposal at Praça de Ferreira do Amaral by Nam Van Lake could see a low-rise boutique hotel with 100s of rooms and retail alongside conference exhibition and concert facilities.The group is also interested in developing a theme park.
