Cyprus –Cypriot casino vote scheduled for end of June

By - 16 June 2015

The Cypriot House Commerce and Finance Committee has confirmed it will discuss the bill introducing casino gambling to the south of the island on June 23 with a vote expected two days later.

Investors would then be invited to express their interest by August, having had a month to evaluate the government’s proposals. Around 15 international operators are believed to be interested. The most popular idea is to create operating conditions for one integrated resort casino along with four regional ‘satellite’ establishments, which would only operate slot-machines, however another idea being out forward is to have one casino resort and one regional casino both with tables and slots.
Undersecretary to the President Constantinos Petrides said the timing is now critical.

“We want it to go ahead because some investors we spoke with are wondering why it is not going ahead,” he explained.
