France – Française des Jeux rolls out new gaming terminal

By - 6 June 2013

Lotsys, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Française des Jeux (FDJ) Group, and Morpho (Safran), has rolled out of a new FDJ retail gaming terminal at the European Lotteries Congress in Tel Aviv. The terminal, named ELITE, uses ground-breaking new imaging technology developed jointly by the companies.

Cutting-edge technical design will reduce the overall cost of ownership. A highly-durable camera replaces the mechanical parts of previous generation terminals, slashing acquisition and maintenance costs.

ELITE imaging technology allows lotteries to move beyond traditional rectangular, paper bet slips to explore new shapes, colors and designs. The gaming terminal’s optical scanner reads and validates bet slips at a glance, simplifying the process for retailers.

Lotsys CEO Laurent Chesnais said: “Lotsys is driving innovation in imaging technology and scratch ticket recognition. Our latest success confirms our position as a leader in state-of-the-art lottery solutions that combine top-notch technology and security.”

Jean-Paul Jainsky, Chairman and CEO of Morpho, said: “The ELITE terminal demonstrates Morpho’s expertise in gaming terminals and imaging technology. Alongside our partner Lotsys, we are dedicated to providing new technologies that boost the creativity and performance of lotteries worldwide.”

Gilles Maillet, Sales Director at FDJ, said: “FDJ has the largest gaming network in France, with 26.3m players in over 34,300 retail outlets at the end of 2012. The terminal is the link between players, retailers and FDJ. After successful testing on scratch and draw games in 1,300 outlets, FDJ has decided to roll out the ELITE terminal in more than 25,000 outlets over the next two years.
