Spielbank Berlin at Potsdamer Platz has successfully completed its lease renewal with Brookfield Properties Germany, asset manager of Potsdamer Platz, which now runs until December 2036.

Gerhard Wilhelm , Managing Director of Spielbank Berlin, said: “The main building of Spielbank Berlin has been based here for more than 20 years at Potsdamer Platz. It is very important to us to continue this tradition in the capital. We would like to thank Brookfield Properties for the pleasant cooperation and look forward to being a firm starting point for both Berliners and visitors to the city in the coming years.”

The operator is looking to complete a comprehensive overhaul of the venue by 2020. The aim is to restructure the entire range of games, to create game-specific experience areas and to further expand the existing space of 8,300 square meters within the casino. Also during the reconstruction measures, the game mode will be open.

“We are pleased to announce the successful extension of the lease agreement with Spielbank Berlin,” adds Karl L. Wambach , Executive Vice President Europe of Brookfield Properties Germany. “Here in the center of Potsdamer Platz, one of the most urban places in Berlin and a magnet for tourists and Berlin alike, the Casino Berlin is a magnet for visitors from all over the world.”

Spielbank Berlin GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1975. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Berlin Casino seized the opportunity for modernisation and expansion and in 1998 moved into its current premises in the immediate vicinity of Potsdamer Platz. In the meantime, Spielbank Berlin operates four locations: The main location on Potsdamer Platz and the casinos at the TV tower, Ellipse Spandau and Marburger Straße, where almost 500 employees welcome more than 600,000 guests each year. The capital offices of the Casino Berlin are characterized by a state-of-the-art equipment and offer visitors not only slot machines but also classic gaming options such as poker, roulette and blackjack.
