Ireland – Boyle to swoop for Ladbrokes/Gala Coral betting shops

Boylesports is to offer €118m for 360 British bookmakers in bid to ‘expand our regional presence in Britain’ as part of the Ladbrokes merger with Gala Coral.
Ladbrokes and Gala Coral need to offload up to 400 betting shops to get approval for its £2.4bn merger from the Competition and Markets Authority.
Jenna Boyle, Boylesports Retail Director, said the bid would be made by the end of the week.
“The Gala/Coral-Ladbrokes merger presented an opportunity for us which we definitely need to look at, so we’re driving that process,” she said.
Boylesports currently has 212 bookies, employing 1,400 people.
She added that for the first time since 2008 Boylesports wants experiencing an upswing of three to four per cent in the average bet per slip.
