New Hampshire’s charitable casinos to get unlimited Video Lottery Terminals
New Hampshire’s charitable gaming sector has received a boost with Governor Kelly Ayotte signing in a new law that will allow them unlimited numbers of Video Lottery terminals.
The previous restrictions of 230 to 300 VLTs has been axed with the state’s 14 charitable allowed to decide what numbers of terminals their venues require.
Tax on VLTs has been increased to 31 per cent on revenues with 35 per cent of the collected going to local charities connected with each casino and 0.25 per cent going to the Governor’s Commission on Addiction, Treatment, and Prevention. A percentage also goes to the Elderly-Disabled-Blind-Deaf Fund, alongside other state social programs.
Whilst there are no commercial casinos in New Hampshire, charitable casinos are also allowed to operate tables in the Granite State.
State Rep. Joe Sweeney, author of Law HB2 said: “These reforms will help ensure that New Hampshire remains competitive, transparent, and responsible in its approach to charitable gaming. HB 2 delivers a responsible, forward-looking framework to modernize charitable gaming in New Hampshire. With Governor Ayotte’s signature, we are enabling growth, improving oversight and enhancing the ability of local nonprofits to benefit from this vital sector.”
