US – Intralot follows up Ohio Lottery deal with ticket extension

By - 1 July 2013

Intralot has announced a two-year renewal extension to continue to develop, refine, implement and provide instant ticket related and cooperative instant ticket support services to the Ohio Lottery Commission.

The extension to continue its strong partnership with Intralot was approved by the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, General Services Division, which received the recommendation from the Ohio Lottery Commission (OLC). The contract provides for instant ticket data processing, warehousing, and overall management of the instant ticket and gaming supply inventory, as well as the management and staffing of a state-of-the-art, telephone-based, instant ticket order and distribution system.

Intralot had originally won an eight-year contract to provide cooperative services to the Ohio Lottery in 2009 with options to renew every two years. The Lottery’s budget is approved every two years by the State and therefore contracts must be renewed for every biennium. This two-year extension begins on July 1, 2013.

The project began in 2009 after a 3- month conversion period, which required relocating millions of instant tickets to the new Intralot warehouse facility. The Ohio Lottery Commission showed an increase in instant game lottery sales of approximately $44.7m in fiscal year 2012, generating a record $1.5bn in instant sales, representing 55 per cent of total lottery sales.

Constantinos Antonopoulos, CEO of Intralot Group, stated: “We are really pleased to receive the renewal of our instant gaming services contract in Ohio that follows the renewal and extension option of our gaming system services contract awarded just a few weeks ago by the Ohio Lottery Commission. Our partnership with the Ohio Lottery has yielded very good results and we are looking forward to continuing to support the Lottery with our pioneer technology and unique services towards its goal to increase the revenues generated for public education in Ohio.”

Tom Little, President and CEO of Intralot USA, added:  “We are pleased to continue our partnership with OLC and assist in its mission to maximize the contribution to public education in the state of Ohio.  I am confident that our combined efforts with the OLC will continue to generate solid results over the coming years.”
