US – Ohio Lottery renews with Intralot

By - 20 June 2013

Intralot has announced a two-year renewal of its contract to provide gaming system services to the Ohio Lottery Commission for the biennium 2014-2015, as well an additional two-year extension option until 2021, both passed unanimously by the Ohio Controlling Board.

The Lottery’s budget is approved every two years by the state and therefore contracts must be renewed every two years. Included in board approval was also the consent to exercise several options bid in the original Intralot RFP response that became part of the contract. This includes Intralot’s B-ON system utilizing Intralot’s upgraded version of its multipurpose self-service vending machine.

Intralot had originally won a 10-year contract to provide gaming system services to the Ohio Lottery in 2008 with options to renew every two years. The project began in 2009 after a one year conversion contract, one of the largest lottery conversions in modern lottery history. Since then, the Ohio lottery has enjoyed record growth in traditional lottery revenues. In 2011 Intralot was awarded an additional contract to supply the Ohio Lottery with its cutting-edge VLT electronic monitoring system for a period up to approximately eight years to run concurrent with the online contract. The first two racinos in Ohio have already been successfully connected to Intralot’s monitoring system. Intralot has also made a very significant investment in the State by establishing its manufacturing facility in Mason, Ohio.

Dennis Berg, Executive Director of the Ohio Lottery, commented during the Lottery Commission Meeting that he was pleased to continue the lottery’s partnership with INTRALOT over the 2014-2015 biennium. He added that Intralot has state-of- the-art equipment, a state-of-the-art facility located in Strongsville Ohio, a gaming system that runs as good or better than any other states’ gaming system and that the lottery has had record sales the past several years.

Constantinos Antonopoulos, CEO of Intralot Group, stated: “We have established a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership with the Ohio Lottery Commission. Our team in the US has been closely cooperating with the lottery towards our common goal to introduce secure, efficient and appealing gaming offerings that will benefit the lottery, the retailers, the players and the State of Ohio. We are confident that our leading gaming technology, our operational knowhow across all gaming jurisdictions and our focus on understanding our customers’ needs will continue to provide great value and strong support to the lottery’s growing operations.”

Tom Little, President and CEO of Intralot USA, stated: “The decision to not only award us a two-year renewal but also an extension option of our contract, further reinforces the proven performance of our partnership with the Ohio Lottery. We look forward to further strengthening an already great partnership and continuing to support the lottery in their efforts to grow revenues and returns to education by introducing exciting new lottery games in new distribution channels.”
