By Phil - 6 November 2017The trial for locals to play in casinos in Vietnam will begin at the start of December, according to a circular issued by Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, however there has been no confirmation of which casinos will partake in the trial.
The information outlines that December 1 will be the official start date for the three-year trial that will see local players have to prove they earn a monthly income of at least VND10m (US$440). They will be charged an entrance fee with entry monitored.
Previous information has stated that the two casinos to take part in the trial will be located in Van Don Economic Zone in Quang Ninh province and on Phu Quoc island in Vietnam’s south-west. However, neither property has yet been built.
Vietnam’s Finance Ministry confirmed that the sae date would see the launch of a trial for sports betting on international football, horse racing and greyhound racing but again there has been no stipulation as to what operators would be allowed to offer the trial.
