Virginia sports betting up 19 per cent in November
The Virginia Lottery released its report on sports betting activity submitted by licensed operators for the month of November 2024.
Between 1-30 November 2024, Virginians wagered $760,965,450, 19.1 per cent higher than last November. For November, 13 mobile operators and three casinos accepted wagers in Virginia.

State law places a 15 per cent tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR), which is defined as total wagers minus total winnings and other authorized deductions.
Of the state tax on sports betting AGR, the statute specifies 97.5 per cent is to be deposited in the state’s General Fund and 2.5 per cent is to be deposited into the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
Ten operators reported net positive AGR for November, leading to $12.1m in tax payments for the month.
