The Netherlands – Goudsmit to leave Holland Casino

By - 16 December 2013

Holland Casino has announced that Senior Vice President of International Development Ron Goudsmit is to part company with the state-owned gambling company following the latest round of redundancies.

Mr. Goudsmit, who will retain his position as President of the European Casino Association, a role he has overseen since 2006, will leave Holland Casino by the end of this year. He started out with the Dutch operator in 1976 when he worked as a dealer before becoming General Manager of Casino Rotterdam and Vice-President of Gaming.

Holland Casino’s Interim Director Willem-Jan van den Dijssel said: “Ron has always been a pioneer for our business and we thank him very much for his commitment and excellent earnings for Holland Casino in the past 37 years.”

Last Month, Holland Casino confirmed that more than 100 of its 300 head office staff would lose their jobs with the company having to reduce personnel costs by 18 per cent in order to keep the business solvent. The operator is heading towards a loss of over €30m this year with debt expected to increase from €60m to €100m. The operator reduced its workforce by 800 between 2008 to 2012 during which time turnover dropped by 30 per cent. Revenues for the group, which operates 14 casinos nationwide, have been affected by dwindling attendance and lower spend per head.
