Portugal – Portugal reports first year of online activity

Portugal’s online gaming sector generated revenues of €122.6m during the first year of regulation in the country.
Having been launched in May, the figures from Serviço Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal (SRIJ) showed how the government’s tax takeaway was €54.2m.

Sports betting was the leading vertical generating €68.1m, followed by online casino, which generated €54.4m. On the casino vertical, slots accounted for the majority of the total at 45 per cent followed by poker cash games at 19.7 per cent, French roulette at 19.2 per cent and blackjack at 9.2 per cent.
