Spain – Online gaming increases by 37 per cent in Spain

Spain’s online market has seen a sharp increase over the last quarter and has increased considerably when compared to the previous year.

According to the The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling’s (DGOJ) latest report on Spain’s online gaming market Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) stood at €140.51m for the last quarter – an increase of 16.63 per cent over the previous quarter and an increase of 37.35 percent compared to the same quarter in 2016.

The total amount of deposits made during the quarter stood at €421.94m which is an increase over the quarter of 14.51 per cent and 49.22 per cent compared to the same quarter last year. With respect to the previous quarter, there has been an increase in GGR across the board especially when it comes to sports betting (27.77 per cent), poker (2.05 per cent), casino (4.56 per cent), bingo (0.66 per cent) and online competitions (104.25 per cent).

The number of active users during the third quarter of 2017 stood at an average of 613,812, which means a decrease compared to the previous quarter of 5.05 per cent. However, year on year it amounted to an increase of 13.44 per over the same quarter in 2016. On the other hand the total number of registered users during the third quarter of 2017 stood at 709,716 users, which signifies an increase of 17.65 per cent when compared to the previous quarter and 8.79 per cent with respect to the same quarter in 2016.
