Switzerland – Casino Lugano and Casino du Lac Meyrin pass first stage of online approval

The Swiss Federal Council (Bundesrat) has given the green light for online licences for Casino Lugano and Casino du Lac Meyrin, although both operators will now have to get approval from the country’s federal gambling regulator Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission (ESBK)

Casino du Lac is operated by French casino group Partouche. Casino Lugano is jointly owned by Casinos Austria International and the Lugano Municipality.

These operators are the first to be approved outside of German-speaking cantons in Switzerland. They are also the sixth and seventh online platforms that have been given entry to the Swiss gaming industry following approvals for Grand Casino Baden, Casino Davos, Grand Casino Luzern and Casino Zürichsee. Grand Casino Kursaal Bern was approved for a licence by Bundesrat in November, but is yet to confirm final approval by the regulator.
