Austria – Amatic withdraws from ICE 2022

By - 9 February 2022

Austrian slot and multi-player manufacturer Amatic has decided to withdraw from this year’s ICE, citing the ‘omicron variant’ and ‘logistical problems’ as the main reasons.

Amatic Said: “ICE 2022 was, with Brexit and the ongoing pandemic, always going to be a challenge to plan, presenting unique logistical problems and requiring great care to ensure the safety of our employees. Hoping for an improvement in the situation and considering the importance of the event for the industry, Amatic originally still considered attending, as did most of the gaming industry.”

“With the current spread of the omicron-variant, this decision was called into question, not only presenting renewed logistical problems, but also the moral issue of participating in an international event under these conditions. Clarion Events’ recent rescheduling to an unfavourable date had the unfortunate effect of compounding these issues and leading to an expected drop in visitor numbers, as evidenced by the several cancellations of notable exhibitors.”

“After careful consideration, Amatic can no longer guarantee a satisfactory and safe exhibition, neither for participants, other exhibitors nor for Amatic itself, and therefore decided to withdraw from ICE Nevertheless, ICE remains the most important event of the year and we are looking forward to participating again in 2023.”
