Cambodia -Century Entertainment says Dara Sakor casino opening by late April

By - 1 April 2021

Century Entertainment is expecting the delayed launch of mass table gaming operations at a new casino in Dara Sakor, Cambodia to now take place late April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Century’s relocation of gaming tables from a casino at its previous location at Sunshine Bay Hotel in Sihanoukville was originally planned for February. Century has been told by the owner, Lion King, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cheung Shing Global Travel Entertainment Limited, that it has decided to delay the opening due to various lockdown measures across the country.

“Upon further negotiation, in view of the current strict lockdown measures imposed to address the February 20 Community Incident, it is believed that the lockdown would not last for too long and subject to the development of the February 20 community incident, [when four Chinese nationals paid a bribe to leave a hotel and then passed on the infection] the new casino will strive for re-opening on or before late April 2021.”

The gross floor area of the new location is 10,500 sq.m. Lion King has downscaled its plans to accommodate 20 mass gaming tables, seven tables for niu-niu poker, 10 tables for baccarat including Century Entertainment’s offer, one table each for blackjack, sicbo and poker, 25 VIP tables, 50 EGMs and a Chinese restaurant, spa and night club.

Dara Sakor, Koh Kong Province is one of the most rapidly developing districts in Cambodia and is a well-known tourism destination in Southeast Asia. The new location at Dara Sakor is surrounded by luxury hotel resorts and a golf course.
