Canada – Century announces operation of three more cruise ships

By - 19 November 2013

Century Casinos’ wholly-owned subsidiary Century Resorts International will operate three additional casinos on cruise ships under its exclusive casino concession agreement with Windstar Cruises.

The company already operates the casinos onboard Windstar Cruises’ existing fleet of luxury sailing yachts carrying from 148 to 310 guests and known for their intimate experience and unique voyages to the world’s best small ports and hidden harbours. In 2013, Windstar Cruises was ranked No. 2 Small Ship Cruise Line in Conde Nast Traveler’s prestigious Readers Choice Awards, and No. 3 Small Ship Cruise Line in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards.

In April 2014, Windstar Cruises will launch the first of three newly acquired all suite cruise vessels, the 212-passenger “Star Pride,” with the casino operated by Century Casinos. The other two vessels are planned to start operation in the second quarter of 2015, with casinos operated by Century Casinos.

The group this month declared a net operating revenue of US$28.8m for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2013, an increase of 54 per cent compared to the three months ended September 30, 2012.

“We posted solid results in the third quarter, even though both our Colorado operations and our casino in Calgary were significantly impacted by severe floods in their feeder markets. We are also very excited about the progress we made with the racetrack and casino project in Calgary”, said Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos.
