Enjoy announces board reshuffle

By - 25 April 2024

Henry Comber has stepped down from the board of directors and as President from the Enjoy Board, as have directors Aldo Lema, Jorge Lesser, Fernando Rioseco, and Ana María Orrellana. According to local newspaper Diario Financiero Comber chose not to seek re-election as he chairs Euroamérica, a company that is a creditor of Enjoy. Jorge Lesser had a similar reason, as he is also linked to the investment company.

Remaining on the board were Pier-Paolo Zaccarelli, Octavio Bofill, Ignacio Pérez Alarcón, and Jaime Maluk, the latter being poised to become the board’s president.

Replacing the departing members were María Teresita González Larraín, Rodrigo Grau, María Alejandra Maluk, Enrique Taladriz, and Andrea Wolleter. All will serve on the board for the 2024-2027 period.

During the meeting, Comber expressed optimism for the future of the company going forwards. “I am confident that the company will make favourable progress in its Judicial Reorganization process, a crucial stage to ensure proper sustainability over time and project our operation with greater solidity into the future.”

In his annual report to shareholders, Comber also emphasised some of the challenges the industry faces globally post pandemic. “These are challenging times for the gaming casino industry, tourism, and entertainment in all markets around the world. Our business is heavily challenged by the slow post-pandemic travel recovery, structural and global trend changes, and adaptation to new entertainment habits,” he said.

Comber also highlighted efforts made to strengthen Enjoy’s operations, provide continuity and a high level of service both nationally and internationally. “In 2023, we, along with our strategic partner in Antofagasta, renewed licenses for an additional 15 years and fulfilled payments for the economic offers committed in 2023 for Viña del Mar, Coquimbo, Pucón, and Los Ángeles for CLP 50.700 million,” he said.

Meanwhile Enjoy’s General Manager, Esteban Rigo-Righi, praised the work that has been carried out to advance the judicial reorganization: “We are confident that it will provide sustainability and create new foundations to project ourselves into the future, especially considering the well-being of its employees, clients, suppliers, and creditors.”

In January, Enjoy, the main casino operator in Latin America, announced that it was undergoing another restructuring, the second in just two years. Enjoy described a series of reasons for not reaching its growth projections, including “liquidity constraints and the slow post-pandemic recovery, which had greater complexities than initially anticipated.”
