Former Group CFO Koen De Wispelaere announced as company CEO
DR Gaming Technology (DRGT) has announced the appointment of former Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Board Member, Koen De Wispelaere, as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Having joined the Company in 2015, De Wispelaere has worked side-by-side with then CEO and co-founder, and now Group Executive Chairman, Jurgen De Munck for over a decade – playing an integral part in driving the Company’s significant systems and jackpot technology growth, as well as its operational efficiencies. He has also been heavily involved in the recent expansion of DRGT’s sister company, Infiniti Casino, in both Belgium and France.
“Over the past ten years, Koen has worked closely and continuously alongside me, playing a central role in the Company’s management and strategic development. I have every confidence in him,” said De Munck. At the same time, he used the opportunity to thank outgoing CEO Marco Herrera for his unwavering commitment over the past two years, and his willingness over that time to share his vast management systems experience with the team. ‘On behalf of myself and the Board, I wish Marco well and extend our best wishes to him for whatever the future may hold.”
Following De Wispelaere’s appointment, the company confirmed that De Munck will continue in his role as Group Executive Chairman, now focusing on the strategy of both the Infiniti Casino Group and DRGT, whereas De Wispelaere will lead DRGT, the Group’s management systems and jackpot technology development and distribution business.
“Having worked for DRGT, and closely with Jurgen, for more than a decade now, this opportunity is immense. That said, I’m taking on this challenge with my eyes wide open; I understand and believe in the strategy, know exactly what’s expected of me, and what is required to execute it,” said De Wispelaere, adding that ‘most of my colleagues and I have worked closely together for some time, we know each other well, and fully appreciate one another’s strengths. That’s key. I have no doubt that together we’re going to be doing even greater things.”
De Munck and De Wispelaere, along with a significant contingent of DRGT’s global team, will all be on hand at Booth 4405 at the Venetian Expo from 29 September for the 2026 edition of G2E.
