By - 27 June 2022

Française des Jeux (FDJ), the operator of France’s national lottery games, generated a turnover of €2.256bn in 2021, up 17.5 per cent year on year.

The second European and fourth world lottery generated group EBITDA of €522m, up 22.3 from 2020 with net profit of €294m, up 37.6 per cent compared to the previous year.

“The Group has returned to its pre-health crisis growth trajectory,” said Stéphane Pallez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the group. “All our financial indicators have improved, compared to 2020 of course, but also and above all compared to 2019. We have thus been able to erase the impact of the crisis and come out of it stronger.”

She confirmed the success of digitization, with online postings which now represent 11 per cent of total stakes, as well as BtoB activities, symbolized by the signing of new contracts abroad. Stéphane Pallez also reaffirmed his commitment to responsible gaming, the company’s redistributive model and a contribution to causes of general interest, with €19.5m being allocated by the FDJ corporate foundation for the period 2018-2022. A contribution that will be increased to €25m over the period 2023-2027.

“Our performance confirms the relevance of our strategy and we are very confident in our ability to pursue sustainable growth, for the benefit of all our stakeholders”, she added. “We have therefore reassessed our 2025 objectives upwards, which dated from the IPO in 2019.”
