France – French town of Samur pushing hard for a casino

By - 8 February 2021

The Mayor of Saumur Jackie Goulet is hoping for a change in the legislation that will allow the town in western France, overlooking the Loire river, to open a tender for a casino licence.

The town, located in the region of Maine-et-Loire, has set up a public service delegation commission to deal with the matter.

“As soon as we have the authorisation to create a casino in Saumur, this commission will study the project,” Mayor Jackie Goulet said.

Mr. Goulet (DVG) added that having spoken with elected officials of the department, Emmanuel Macron, Head of State had ‘given a favourable opinion to the establishment of a casino in Saumur.’
