Ten-part investigation to reveal 50 fake sites a week, following Gamecheck’s discovery of Brazil’s largest concentration of fake online casino games worldwide

Gamecheck, the online casino verification platform that identifies fake online casinos offering fake games, and the rogue operators behind them, has confirmed a ten-part weekly exposé series covering five thousand fake online casino sites identified across Brazil during the first half of 2026.

The series kicked off with the report “Gamecheck identifies 5000 fake online casinos in Brazil” and will continue every Monday with fifty domains revealed in each instalment. Since Gamecheck began operating, it has detected more than eight thousand fake games worldwide. Over six thousand eight hundred of those were found in Brazil, including three thousand eight hundred fake online casinos identified in a single month. No other market Gamecheck monitors comes close: Brazil accounts for the largest share of fake games detected anywhere in the world.

James Elliott, Founder of Gamecheck, said: “Brazil has become one of the fastest growing online casino gaming markets in the world, and rogue operators have moved just as quickly to take advantage of it. Publishing our findings weekly means Brazilian players get a steady, checkable record they can act on as it happens, not a headline that vanishes from view.”

Fred Azevedo, Gamecheck’s Brand Ambassador for LATAM, added: “The conversation around player protection has to begin with authenticity. Before discussing RTP, volatility, or responsible gambling, players deserve to know that the game they are playing is real. If the software cannot be trusted, nothing else about the experience can be trusted either. Independent verification is one of the most important tools the industry has to protect players and strengthen confidence in markets.”

Brazil’s regulated online casino market launched at the start of 2025 with significant momentum, opening online casino gaming to millions of players for the first time. The market has grown quickly: betting sites in Brazil generated around $7bn in gross gaming revenue during 2025, according to H2 Gambling Capital, with revenue forecast to approach $10bn by 2029.

Within a year of the regulated market opening, Brazil became the world’s fifth-largest betting market, as reported by BBC News Brazil, with authorised platforms generating an estimated $290m in tax revenue in January 2026 alone, according to Brazil’s Federal Revenu Service, and creating an estimated 15,000 high-income jobs, according to the Instituto Brasileiro de Jogo Responsável.

That rapid growth created ideal conditions for rogue operators: a large, engaged player base, widespread smartphone adoption, and millions of first-time online casino players with limited experience telling a real platform from one that is not.

Gamecheck’s findings show rogue operators in Brazil tend to favour short, numeral-heavy domain names, cycle through near-identical branding, and rely on a small number of templates to appear established. Brazil’s fast-growing online casino market, driven by wider smartphone and internet access, creates exactly the environment that attracts this kind of activity: more players searching for new sites to try means more opportunities for rogue operators to pass off fake games as real.

Each site in the series is assessed using Gamecheck’s standard process. A sample of games is tested, evidence is gathered, and the original game providers are asked to confirm whether the games are real. Where fake games are detected, the site is added to Gamecheck’s database and placed under ongoing monitoring.

For online casino operators that offer real games, the Gamecheck SEAL provides a way to stand apart from rogue operators. The Gamecheck SEAL is domain-linked, QR-authenticated through the Gamecheck app, and logged on the blockchain, giving players a visible signal that a site’s games have been checked against the original game providers.

The Brazil series forms part of a wider programme of regional exposé work, with Gamecheck running comparable investigations across other markets identified as high-risk for fake online casino gaming. The Gamecheck team is also working with regional partners, including Gamecheck’s Brand Ambassador for LATAM Fred Azevedo and Brazilian streamer Marcos Junior, known as O Markola, to extend the reach of the findings among Brazilian players.
