Germany – German Tennis Federation signs data and streaming partnership with Genius Sports

By - 11 December 2020

The German Tennis Federation (DTB), the national governing body of the sport, has formed an exclusive data and streaming partnership with Genius Sports Group.

Genius Sports Group has been granted the exclusive rights to capture and distribute live data and video content from DTB events for betting purposes. This new partnership and Genius Sports Group’s global distribution network will provide a platform for the DTB to reach fans from over 150 sportsbooks worldwide.

PlaySight, the video, analytics and live streaming platform, will provide automated production, live streams and highlights across all DTB events covered under the partnership. The agreement with Genius Sports Group provides a new global distribution network for the DTB alongside their exclusive streaming and live broadcast for media partnership with the Tennis Channel.

The German Tennis Championships have been taking place this week in Biberach, with the finals on 13 December. 96 players (men and women) are competing for prize money of €35,000 as one of the last events in the 2020 tennis calendar. The annual Bundesliga is one of the top leagues in world tennis, attracting players including current No.3 ranked Dominic Thiem in 2018.

Dirk Hordorff, Vice President High Performance Tennis and Education at the DTB, said: Through our partnership with Genius Sports, our 1.4 members and millions of German and international tennis fans will have the possibility to follow the year-end national championships and Bundesliga, which include a lot of top international WTA and ATP stars. Live tennis from every match will bring these events a new dimension, and help grow the visibility of the sport.

Jonny Katanchian, Head of Commercial Partnerships – EMEA at Genius Sports, commented: “This partnership with the DTB is one of our largest tennis partnerships to date, providing our sportsbook partners with premium content during off-peak windows for the global season. The DTB is committed to enhancing the reach, visibility and profile of its events and we’re excited to be part of this global strategy.”

Rodney Rapson, PlaySight’s Managing Director for Europe and the UK, added: “As a tennis fan, I am excited at the fact that we will have access to more top level competition. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world when it comes to the level of players competing.

“Now fans around the world will be able to watch this content both live and with on-demand video highlights. Our technology at PlaySight will enable the DTB to bring their production in house, giving them complete control of their content and more flexibility for distribution.”
