Sierra-Hughes will host the LatAm & Brasil Regulator Meetup that will take place on September 29
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) will be leading the conversation at SBC Lisbon with experts from several of its global offices at its stand #B238, lending their leading insights into Testing & Certification, iGaming & Sports Betting Services, Compliance & Regulatory Advisory and GLI Secure Information Security.
Off the trade show floor, GLI will lead the session, “LatAm Leaders: Strategy, Scale and Survival” on Thursday, 1 October from 11:00-11:40 on the Global & Emerging Markets Stage – Latin America – Stage 2. GLI Vice President of Latin America, Caribbean, and Spain Karen Sierra-Hughes will moderate this panel, which will discuss where sustainable growth sits now, which markets genuinely reward disciplined expansion, and as consolidation accelerates, who is building long-term value.
Sierra-Hughes will also host the LatAm & Brasil Regulator Meetup that will take place on Tuesday, 29 September, from 16:30 to 18:00 with Javier Milian, President of the Loteria Nacional de Beneficencia del Salvador; Ida Lopez, President of Asociación de Loterías Estatales de Argentina ALEA; Ezequiel Dominguez, Director of Loteria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (LOTBA); and Juan Carlos Santaella, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission.
Prior to the show, organizers announced Sierra-Hughes was selected for the 10th class of the SBC Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals whose careers, achievements, and influence have helped shape the global betting and gaming industry, and that perfectly describes Karen. The induction ceremony will be held on Monday, 28 September 2026, at 15:30 at Palácio Estoril Hotel in Lisbon, as part of the SBC Leaders Summit, an invite-only event for key industry C-levels, taking place the day before SBC Summit 2026 opens.
Sierra-Hughes has dedicated her career to supporting regulators in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain in their efforts to establish and modernize regulatory frameworks and helped suppliers and operators to safely embrace new opportunities that move the gaming industry forward.
