Jordan – Jordan Vice PM hints at casino potential

By - 22 February 2016

Jordan’s Vice Prime Minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb has sparked optimism that there could soon be a casino industry operating in tourist destinations such as Aqaba, the Jordanian port on the Red Sea, and Petra.

Mr. Abu al-Ragheb spoke about incentives to usher in a new era of investment in the Arab kingdom during a public seminar called ‘Investment in Jordan, Chances and Challenges,’ organised by the Jordanian Transparency Society. He believes casino would be an ideal way to boost tourism in both areas as well as kick start the economy. He said that only foreigners would be allowed to gamble in the casinos and that Iranian tourists would form a major part of the target database.
