Kalshi to bring prediction markets to Brazil
Move comes in partnership with XP Inc., one of the largest independent financial institutions in Brazil
XP International, a company within the XP Inc. group, has announced a strategic partnership with Kalshi, a U.S.-regulated prediction market platform, to bring prediction markets to Brazil.
According to a XP International press release the initiative positions XP “as the first financial institution in Brazil to bring this new asset class to the country, expanding access to financial instruments already established in developed markets.”
Lucas Rabechini, Director of Financial Products at XP Inc said: “XP has always aimed to expand access to new ways of investing. Prediction markets introduce a new asset class to the Brazilian market, offering investors one more tool for scenario analysis, positioning, and portfolio protection. We believe this market has high potential to broaden and complement the current investment landscape.”
Prediction markets follow the same regulatory framework applied to other financial assets traded in the US, such as equities, bonds, and traditional derivatives, with clear rules for price formation, settlement, and governance.
“As a Brazilian, I couldn’t be more excited for XP to be Kalshi’s first brokerage partner outside the U.S. XP is one of Brazil’s largest financial institutions; expanding prediction markets to Brazil is an important step in providing more people around the world with access to fair, safe, and regulated markets,” said Luana Lopes Lara, co-founder and COO of Kalshi.
The initial emphasis will be on financial and economic events, which can improve pricing efficiency and market information quality. Access will be granted in line with client profiles and regulatory requirements, reinforcing XP’s commitment to financial education, governance, and offering legitimate instruments to help investors make informed decisions.
“We are bringing this instrument to help our clients invest better, with more alternatives for exposure to relevant economic events. Just as we democratized access to the stock exchange in the past, we are now taking another step by introducing a market model already used in advanced economies, always with responsibility, education, and governance,” Lucas Rabechini said.
XP Inc. is one of the largest independent financial institutions in Brazil, owner of the brands XP, Rico, Clear, XP Educação, InfoMoney, among others. XP Inc. serves more than 4.7 million active clients and manages R$ 1.8 trillion in assets.
Founded in 2018, Kalshi is the largest prediction market in the world, offering financial markets on the outcomes of real-world events such as elections, awards, sports, and more.
