Korea – Casinos begin to reopen in South Korea

South Korea’s Paradise Co. has now reopened its four casinos following a near one-month closure amid the global pandemic.

Paradise Co reopened its Paradise Casino Jeju Grand on the island of Jeju last week, but has since reopened Paradise Casino in Incheon, Paradise Casino Walkerhill in Seoul and Paradise Casino Busan in Busan. Paradise Co said its march revenues fell by 60.5 per cent year-on-year to KRW19.73bn (US$16.1m). this amount was down 69.2 per cent compared to the previous month’s title.

Casinos operated by competitor Grand Korea Leisure remain shut with the group forecasting losses of KRW57.8bn (US$47.4m). Kangwon Land, the only casino resort in South Korea where the country’s nationals, is hoping to reopen on May 4.
