Casino will open with 250 slots and table games
On December 10, 2026, the new Merkur Spielbank Siegburg will open to the public with a three-day opening party until December 12.
The new casino was built in record time with only about 20 months between the groundbreaking ceremony at the end of March 2025 and the opening ceremony in December 2026. The Merkur Group is investing more than €35m in the sixth state-licensed casino in North Rhine-Westphalia.
On around 1,600 square metres of playing space, guests can expect a modern range of classic roulette and card tables as well as around 250 machines of the latest generation. With the new location, the Merkur Group will also create around 100 jobs in various occupational fields.
A prominent highlight awaits the guests on the first evening of the event: Patrick Duffy, world-famous as Bobby Ewing from the cult series Dallas, travels to Germany from the USA. He is accompanied by his partner, the American actress and singer Linda Purl.
“Live entertainment is part of the DNA of Merkir Spielbanken. From day one, we want to offer our guests in Siegburg more than just a first-class range of games: extraordinary show moments and entertainment that will be remembered,” says David Schnabel, member of the Merkur Group Executive Board responsible for the Casinos division. “With Patrick Duffy, we welcome a real Hollywood legend to the opening, who has written television history for decades. The fact that a world star of this format is coming to us in Siegburg makes this special occasion even more extraordinary for us.”
Patrick Duffy is one of the great TV icons. As Bobby Ewing in “Dallas”, he made television history and became a worldwide audience favorite in the 1980s. With later successful series such as “A Strong Family” and “Rich and Beautiful”, the American actor also shaped the TV business for many years. Linda Purl gained international fame through her roles in “Happy Days” and “Matlock”. For the couple, the joint visit to Siegburg is a special premiere: For the first time, the two Hollywood stars will appear together at a public event in Germany.
